A boat, which suffered an electrical fire out at sea, prompted two RNLI crews to rush to the rescue.

Volunteers from Hunstanton RNLI received reports of a 28ft pleasure craft in flames off Titchwell at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

The ship had one man on board who had no navigation lights or propulsion due to the fire, which had been extinguished by the time the team arrived.

It was decided that the safest option was to tow the vessel back to shore as the boat could pose a hazard to other shipping.

Wells RNLI were later called at 5.45pm to take over the tow and bring the uninjured man and his ship back to safety.

Mike Gould, acting lifeboat operations manager at Hunstanton RNLI, said: “It was a well-coordinated effort between both stations and everyone came home safe and well.”
