Drivers advised to find alternative routes as water levels on Welney Wash Road rise
Drivers are being advised to not travel through Welney as water levels rise.
Large parts of the area are under water again as water levels rose quickly yesterday, with the river level currently at 2.73m.
The depth of water on the A1101 Welney Wash Road at its deepest side is 53cm, half a metre deep, and at the centre line it is 38cm.
Welney Flood Watch's Facebook page said it is not advisable to travel by car and that levels are still rising with pace.
“It will be much deeper overnight and by the morning,” a statement said yesterday.
“Certainly not suitable for any car or small van now, larger vehicles pushing a high bow wave so our advice is to find another route.
“Stay safe and dry, plan another route.”
